Scotland's Finances

Scotland's finances are stronger than the UK

Government figures show that in 2011/12 Scotland's public finances were in better shape than the UK. Scotland ran a current budget surplus in 2005/06, 2006/07 and 2008/09. The UK last ran a current budget surplus in 2001/02.

Scotland has one of the best sets of national accounts of any country in the developed world.
